Hotel Principe di Savoia

Now that Fashion Week in New York has wrapped, how about a trip to Milan, the style capital of the world? Check into Hotel Principe di Savoia, which has undergone a redesign directed by ace architect Thierry Despont. The lobby (aka Il Salotto) has a much more welcoming, brighter environment. Hint: Look upward for the custom-made Murano glass chandelier by Barovier & Toso.

In the bar, a new banquette wraps around a grand piano. We have no doubt that all these improvements will continue to draw Milan’s elite set, as well as your A-list clients, who will want to book the Imperial Suite.

Interior designer Celeste Dell’Anna gets all the credit for the suite’s makeover. Our favorite touch? The well-textured four-poster bed. A close second is the bathroom: Turkish bath with chrome-therapy system and a massage shower.

If the Imperial Suite is occupied, fear not, the hotel has nine new Principe suites, each with hand-painted frescoes, traditional Italian furniture and deep-purple armchairs. Bathrooms are outfitted with marble bathtubs that are located right in the middle of the room.

When it’s time to venture out, shop in and around the Fashion Quadrilatero; in the evening, there’s nothing more Italian than taking in an opera at the Teatro alla Scala, which opened in 1778, and has inspired opera lovers ever since. Puccini, Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini—they all saw the curtain rise for the premieres of their operas here.
