October 13, 2008 By: Luxury Travel Advisor

Big News: The Four Seasons Resort Mauritius at Anahita has just opened. The all-pool villa Resort is part of the Anahita World Class Sanctuary, a private mixed-use development that includes Private Residences and the Four Seasons Golf Club Mauritius at Anahita, featuring an 18-hole championship golf course designed by Ernie Els. Location, location, location: The resort borders one of Mauritius‚ largest lagoons and occupies its own stretch of coastline, extending across wooden bridges to encompass a private island, Ile aux Chats. Details: The 123 single-story Pool and Residence Villas have outdoor living spaces with al fresco showers, a large verandah, plunge pool and private garden replete with indigenous plants and trees. Spa: There are 12 over-water treatment rooms, including eight for couples, which sport their own private steam room and semi-outdoor shower. In addition, two of the couples suites have private saunas and wet areas for Vichy treatments. Fitness and Sports: A golf course, three sand beaches, four swimming pools, fitness center, boathouse and diving center, provide ample recreational activities. The Teen's Club and Kids' Club Village provides a complimentary Kids for All Seasons Program. Family activities include swimming below the waterfalls of Grande Rivière Sud Est; snorkelling or kayaking around the Ile aux Chats and visits to the island’s nature reserves and gardens. To Dine For: There are also four restaurants and a lounge bar, serving Southern French, Italian, Pan-Asian and international cuisine. Vibe: The resort aims to go beyond the traditional beach experience by striving to blend in with its existing vegetation and culture, yet there's also an attempt to serve up a contemporary feel. Who’s running the house: The general manger here is Andrew Harrison, who is a tried and true Four Seasons veteran. He served as executive assistant manager of the Jimbaran Bay Resort in Bali in 1995 and helped to open Four Seasons second Balinese Resort at Sayan three years later. Between 2001 and 2004, Harrison was resort manager and hotel manager of the company's Palm Beach and Aviara properties respectively. In November 2004, he became GM of the company's Chiang Mai Resort; while there, he also helped open Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle. What We Know About Him: Harrison has climbed the Matterhorn, Mount Kinabalu and Mount Fuji twice; he scaled Mauritius' Peter Both Mountain during the resort’s pre-opening phase.
