Jetset Report: Introducing Women-Only Lavatories

February 24, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

Seat up or seat down? It's a common restroom argument between man and woman that often ends in disaster. But beginning March 1 ANA Group is eliminating the potential for this heated battle. Next week women-only lavatories will be introduced on All Nippon Airways' international routes, following numerous requests from passengers for this service.

For now there will be no differences between the women-only restrooms and the others (except for gender regulations), but we were told that amenities such as special hand-soaps are under consideration.

And what about the men? Sorry fellas, no private lavatories for you. The choices are either women's-only or unisex. However you will be able to access the the female lavatories under the following conditions:

When required for safety reasons, just prior to the seat belt sign being turned on during take-off and landing

When a passenger is not feeling well and a personal emergency requires such use

When there are very few female passengers and the women-only designation has been lifted.
