Where Will the Stars Sleep on Oscar Night?
February 2, 2010 By: StaffOscar buzz? The nominees for the 2010 Academy Awards were released this week and we have compiled a list of Los Angeles hotels and hot spots that may be worth checking out when the red carpet rolls out.
The Four Seasons Los Angeles at Beverly Hills is in the final stages of its $33 million facelift. The Ballroom, Windows Lounge, Cabana Restaurant and pool with luxury cabanas are already ready to go and the guest rooms and suites will follow suit shortly.
Luxe Hotels and Emerik Hotel, LLC are rebranding the current Holiday Inn Los Angeles City Center as a Luxe Hotel. Following a multi-million-dollar renovation which will begin immediately, the hotel will be renamed the Luxe City Center Hotel, Los Angeles this coming spring.
Lots of Luxe: Marriott International Inc. will open a Ritz-Carlton and a JW Marriott as a part of Anschutz Entertainment Groups' new L.A. Live entertainment complex.
The Greystone Mansion, completed in 1928 and served as a home to Edward "Ned" Laurence Doheny, Jr., son of a wealthy oil baron, is a location for cultural and educational events such as movies, photo shoots and commercials. It is also a popular wedding destination.
The Hideout at the Hollywood Heights Hotel is located at the gateway to Hollywood. This restaurant and bar area will offer both indoor and outdoor patio seating, providing everything from quick bites to late night drinks. The style is classic comfort food with a twist in a modern environment. We hear the must-try dishes are the macaroni and four cheeses with herbed bread crumbs, sweet potato fries, and house-made bread pudding of the day. Some of the signature drinks include the Hollywood "Walk of Fame" martini, California Cosmo, and Pineapple and Cinnamon margarita.
L'Ermitage Beverly Hills will go through significant refurbishments in the coming months and relaunch in late 2010 as Viceroy Beverly Hills. Until then, Viceroy will operate the hotel as L’Ermitage Beverly Hills. The hotel is the newest addition to the Viceroy brand, which welcomed three new hotels and resorts to its portfolio in 2009—Viceroy Miami, Viceroy Anguilla in the Caribbean and Viceroy Snowmass in Colorado.
Check out the Beverly Hills Hotel pool scene. Their Private Spa Cabanas, which overlook the pool, can now be customized for special occasions. These personal touches can include everything from massages to signature cocktails.
In November, the long-anticipated Bouchon restaurant opened next to the Montage Beverly Hills. Fans of Chef Thomas Keller-- whose triumvirate of restaurants (including French Laundry) rule Napa's Yountville-- will be thrilled to get to savor his Michelin-starred cuisine in L.A. as well. Like the original Bouchon, named for the bistros in France's food capital of Lyon, this restaurant serves oysters, classic bistro dishes, and seasonal offerings.
At long last-- after months of anticipation-- the W Hotel Hollywood debuted on January 28 in the heart of L.A.'s historic "filmland." The anchor of the massive, $350 million 1600 Vine project, the new W Hotel "is designed for the art of the film junket"-- to quote Fast Company. Though the Oscars have returned to Hollywood, most film promotion still takes place at hotels in Beverly Hills.
