Affinia Manhattan Hotel Hosts Pooches for Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show

It's always nice to hear about pet-friendly hotels, but even we were impressed by this one: The Affinia Manhattan, the official hotel of the 137th annual Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show, will soon roll out the red carpet to welcome a host of special four-legged guests. This year’s show will feature 3,200 dogs, the largest number of dogs to date, consisting of 187 breeds. During the two-day event, purebred dogs from around the world will compete for the coveted Best in Show title. The show will be held at Madison Square Garden at Piers 92/94 on Monday, February 11 and Tuesday, February 12, 2013, with many of the entrants staying at Affinia Manhattan, which is located across the street from Madison Square Garden.

Affinia Manhattan will use this occasion to provide a sneak peek of its Happy Tails program, which includes a Jax & Bones plush dog bed and chew toys, customized treats, puppy stairs and a dog bowl. In celebration, a special Happy Hour will be hosted for guests and their pups on Friday, February 8 from 5-6p.m.

The hotel will also transform one of its spacious terrace suites into a complimentary Happy Tails Suite, where dogs can maintain their fitness regimen on treadmills provided by DogTread, a manufacturer of motorized pet treadmills and supplies. Additional treadmills will be available for private guestroom use, upon request. The Happy Tails Suite will be open Friday, February 8 through Thursday, February 14 from 5a.m. – midnight. During down-time, Affinia Manhattan’s four-legged guests can practice their winning poses at a photo session, with a step and repeat, filled with entertaining props.

Additionally, guests of the Westminster Kennel Club Dog Show can treat their pooch to the Doggie Delights menu at Niles New York City restaurant located at Affinia Manhattan. The menu includes sautéed beef tips, a six-ounce sliced steak, and three-ounce simply grilled steak. Guests can also add a donation to the Humane Society of New York onto their hotel bill at check-in.
