There’s a new New Yorker in town. Viceroy has moved into a VIP spot on West 57th Street alongside some swanky neighbors (think Carnegie Hall and the anticipated Park Hyatt).
The hotel climbs 29 stories, with views from floor-to-ceiling windows overlooking Central Park. Luxe amenities include Beats by Dr. Dre Beatbox Portable audio systems, Sferra linens and illy coffee machines. Kingside, a street-level bar and restaurant, is the brainchild of Gerber Group and Chef Marc Murphy. It serves new American cuisine with handcrafted cocktails, craft beers and small-batch spirits. Gerber Group in December opens The Roof, a lounge and outdoor patio space serving cocktails and appetizers. Meanwhile, TAO, which has rocked Manhattan’s trendy uptown restaurant scene for almost a decade, is taking its stiletto-heeled crowd further south. TAO Downtown will span an entire city block below the Maritime Hotel. The menu, drummed up by Chef/Partner Ralph Scamardella and his team, draws inspiration from the group’s background.
