Celebrity Hideaways in the Caribbean

Necker Island’s Turtle Beach
Necker Island’s Turtle Beach is a more peaceful palm-fringed beach.

From a clifftop resort where fashion icon Donatella Versace stayed to a cottage where actor Robert De Niro frequents, Luxury Travel Advisor brings you three Caribbean resorts that may be unknown to your VIPs, but are regular stomping grounds for some A-list celebrities.

La Samanna

Le Manapany SPA Payot
Le Manapany SPA Payot offers a range of treatments for body and mind.

Actress Tori Spelling, CNN’s Anderson Cooper, fashion icon Versace, singer Dionne Warwick and comedian Chris Rock are just a few celebrities who recently graced this Orient-Express hotel set beside the French St. Martin’s finest beach and stocked with high-class amenities from a wine cellar to sunset cruises.

We were told the most requested rooms are any of the beachfront rooms situated straight on the sand, from buildings A to E. Note: Some VIPs, however, request rooms in the main building, situated on the cliff, for its spectacular view.

Note: The three- or four-bedroom villas situated on the cliff come with butler service. Hint: Private butler service can also be organized on demand for all other room categories.

For all room inquiries, advisors should contact Maylis de Pompignan ([email protected]), guest relations manager.

La Samann
La Samann a has attracted such celebrities as Anderson Cooper and Donatella Versace.

The Princess Juliana International Airport is 10 minutes from the hotel. Tip: The resort can arrange a private luxury transfer from the airport with fresh towels and water. It can also arrange a fast-track service in which the staff picks up a VIP at the airplane gate, and also a special fast-exit service through customs—except for American Airlines.

The resort’s 2,690-square-foot spa has five massage rooms and one couples’ room. Advisors should book appointments 24 to 48 hours in advance. Tip: The Swedish Massage is the most requested treatment. Hint: Be sure to request masseuses Melanie, Pascal or Jean-Luc.

Advisors can direct their queries to Spa Receptionist Hitomi Le Junter ([email protected]; 590-590-876-400).

The best dining experience here is the waterfront table at Le Reserve. We hear the catch of the day is always in demand. Advisors should book 24 to 48 hours in advance. Nice Touch: The resort can also arrange for private, romantic dinners on the beach.

Reach out to Head Concierge Benny Rollan ([email protected]; 590-590-876-400) with any queries.

Necker Island
Necker Island is home to more than 200 flamingos who are all part of the Necker family.

Rollan can arrange a nice day on a beautiful Sunseeker boat, taking guests to St. Barth’s for shopping in Gustavia, lunch at the Nikki Beach and then back to the hotel just before sunset for a welcome-back glass of champagne.

For all other inquiries, contact General Manager M. Pascal Deyrolle ([email protected]; 590-590-876-400).

Le Manapany

Le ManapAny
Le ManapAny has 36 junior suites that offer king beds and spacious living rooms.

Actor Robert De Niro usually stays in cottage No. 42 at this boutique hotel tucked away in St. Barth’s. But if the Raging Bull actor doesn’t impress your VIPs, then perhaps the fact that both Princess Diana and model Cindy Crawford stayed here will.

The best rooms here are the Beach Front Suites (Nos. 201 and 205). Situated in individual bungalows on the beach, these swanky apartments face the sea and have an ocean view. Each apartment has two bedrooms, one with king bed and the other, suitable for children, has two single beds. Note: There is a dining area and living area as well as a large outdoor deck.

For all room inquiries, advisors should contact General Manager Federico Roy ([email protected]; 590-590-276-655).

The Saint Barthélemy Airport is just two miles away. It can accommodate private helicopters. Note: The resort can arrange free transportation for all VIPs from the airport to the hotel.

La samanna
La samanna has marble bathrooms with separate showers and deep soaking tubs.

A 2,000-square-foot spa in the premises has four treatment rooms. We were told that the 90-minute facial is among the most popular treatments offered. Tip: For facials, tell your VIPs to ask for a masseuse named Sophie. Advisors should book treatments at least 24 hours in advance.

For all other spa inquiries, contact Spa Manager Virginie Roy ([email protected]).

The restaurant Fellini at the Manapany has a romantic ambiance and overlooks the sea and the swimming pool. It is open to locals and requires reservations. We recommend booking at least 24 hours in advance since this is the resort’s only restaurant. Hint: Tell VIPs to try the burrata, spaghetti alle vongole and the fritto misto.

Necker Island

Kate Winslet stayed here and she wasn’t exactly as cold as she was in Titanic.

This Richard Branson-owned private island resort in the British Virgin Islands has attracted a vast array of celebrities from Winslet to dozens of British royalty.

All the rooms on Necker Island are premium. We were told, however, that most VIPs like to stay in the Bali Houses. Note: All the six beautiful Bali Houses have amazing views. And before a fire hit the Great House last year, many requested to stay in one of those rooms. They are currently being restored.

Nice Touch: The island can be rented exclusively or if VIPs are not looking to hire it exclusively, they can still enjoy the Necker experience during “Celebration Weeks,” in which individual rooms can be booked by singles or couples to enjoy the resort’s island paradise “house party” style. Note: Accommodations are usually suitable for large families and groups.

All the rooms are beautiful but obviously Branson’s home, which is currently available for a limited time while the rebuild project is going on, is the best. It has one master bedroom plus a separate house, commonly known as the “Love Temple.”

Necker Island can also be reached by helicopter from Tortola, Virgin Gorda, St. Thomas, San Juan and many other neighboring islands. Private jets can land in Tortola.

Necker Island’s Bali Beach
Necker Island’s Bali Beach is built on a cliff in order to maximise views and sea breezes.

The Necker Island Spa is staffed by two fully trained resident beauty therapists, offering a range of treatments. Because of demand, book an appointment before your VIPs arrive. Tip: The Lava Shell treatment is very popular among guests. Nice Touch: For little ones looking to get their first spa experience, the resort offers 15-minute spa treatments for children at the Necker Island Mini Spa.

Advisors should contact Spa Manager Helen Cain ([email protected]).

Note: Foodies make up a bulk of the resort’s clientele. Dining can be formal or informal, inside or outside, themed or traditional, or a mixture of everything. Note: There is no set restaurant on Necker Island, just different areas to dine.

Leha spa at Necker Island
Leha spa at Necker Island offers a wide range of treatments using Aromatherapy Associates skincare range.
