Luxury Hotels Pop on Toronto Scene

It appears that hotel developers are infatuated with building north of the border—in Toronto. The Queen City is set to debut a slew of new luxury hotels and has already added one new one.

Ritz-Carlton is set to open a 267-room hotel in a 53-story building with a 23,000-square-foot spa. It will be located near the entertainment district. Meanwhile, Donald Trump is taking his brand to the city with the opening of the Trump International Hotel and Tower Toronto this spring. It will have 256 rooms and be situated in the city's financial district. Other brands coming to Toronto include Shangi-La in 2012 and a new Four Seasons in summer 2012.

One hotel brand has already set up shop in Toronto: Thompson Hotels. Thompson Toronto, located—where else?—in the city's art and design district is Thompson's first international hotel (a property in London is next). It features a rooftop swimming pool with private cabanas  and views of the Toronto skyline and lakefront.
