New York's Kitano Hotel Opens New Jazz Club

In New York City, the Kitano Hotel has hosted jazz artists for years in its mezzanine lounge, and is now launching its own dedicated club today. According to Zagat, Jazz at Kitano will be located in a historic townhouse adjacent to the hotel, and will double as a performance venue and restaurant.

We hear that the club will have 30-foot ceilings and mahogany walls, and will be open for breakfast, lunch and dinner. Upcoming acts include jazz notables Barbara Carroll and Jay Leonhart, Eric Comstock and Barbara Fasano and, late in the month, Australian bassist Nicki Parrott and her trio.

The club's schedule will be as follows:

Monday: Jazz Jam will invite musicians and vocalists to join in all evening, backed by the three-piece house band.

Tuesday: Young Pianist Series will feature a new up-and-coming artist each month.

Wednesday and Thursday: Top jazz entertainers ($10 cover charge + $15 minimum)

Friday and Saturday: Marquee jazz acts ($25 cover charge + $15 minimum)

Sunday: Jazz Brunch

The Kitano is located at 66 Park Avenue at East 38th. Visit www.kitano.com for more information.
