Shop Galeries Lafayette Paris, Recharge at the Patrick Jouin-Designed Lafeyette Organic

Lafayette Organic, Paris

Clients heading to Paris? When they’re hitting up the Galeries Lafayette Haussmann, the beautiful Art Nouveau department store adored for its sprawling shoe department-- recommend a pick-me-up at the new Lafayette Organic. Located on the ground floor of the flagship store beneath the Lafayette Gourmet shop, the health-conscious restaurant was designed by Sanjit Manku and Patrick Jouin, the design guru responsible for the stunning interiors of Alain Ducasse’s restaurants worldwide.

In fact, Jouin recently orchestrated a new look for the Restaurant Plaza Athénée, installing natural décor in the Michelin-starred restaurant: screens embroidered with garlic cloves, lettuce, artichokes, and the natural bounty with which Alain Ducasse adores cooking. (Note: We profiled an exhibit at the Centre Georges Pompidou last year which showcased Jouin’s design work.)

The organic restaurant channels a contemporary look; the clean lines reflect the high standards for 100% organic products in the kitchen. Everything is made on site, using ingredients sourced from organic farms in the surrounding Île-de-France region: eggs from a farm in Feucherolles, apple juice from the Perche, bread made in the Val d’Oise. Inexpensive and also available for take-away, Lafayette Organic is an ideal stop for breakfast, lunch or an afternoon pick-me-up. There’s also an outdoor terrace, just opened this month.
