There’s been a lot of buzz about Park Hyatt’s dazzling new hotels in New York and Vienna, and there’s another one on the way for the beautiful island of Zanzibar off the coast of Tanzania. Zanzibar is a mythical destination- home to beautiful beaches and the UNESCO listed site of Stone Town- which many visitors include on a Tanzania itinerary after a Serengeti safari.
Opening at the end of 2014, the Park Hyatt Zanzibar is designed to reflect the mélange of cultures found in the historic town- a blend of Arab, Persian, Indian and European architectural elements. The five-star hotel is directly on the beach, facing the Indian Ocean. There will be 67 rooms including 11 suites, decorated in a contemporary style with local accents. The Park Deluxe rooms overlook the ocean, while the suites come equipped with balconies for taking in the views. All rooms have separate tubs and rainshowers in the bathrooms.
Facilities run the gamut from an Anantara spa and fitness center to an infinity pool facing the beach. The dining concept, Zamani Residence, was built as a “family residence” where guests can dine in a number of difference places—from the library-bar to the outdoor terrace of the main dining room.
