Remote Lands has teamed up with luxury hotel brand The Peninsula Hotels to offer a tour ideal for art lovers. The new 15-day itinerary, appropriately titled Journey Through Asia’s Contemporary Art Capitals, takes travelers to the top contemporary art capitals of Asia, from February 19 to March 5, 2017.

The tour, limited to just 16 travelers, visits Bangkok, Hong Kong, Shanghai, Beijing and Tokyo where guests will stay in five Peninsula hotels and gain exclusive access to contemporary art experiences in each city. The itinerary features a variety of private, high-end offerings for guests including intimate tours of acclaimed art museums, galleries and private collections, the opportunity to meet world-renowned Asian artists, witness artist panel discussions, private tours around the city and more.

The tour starts in Bangkok, where guests will visit the Yenaka Art Village for a private lunch with leading contemporary art gallery owners of the city and a stop at Souled Out Studio, founded by leading street art figure Chris Bowden.

Once in Hong Kong, travelers will tour the private studio of João Vasco Paiva, a Portuguese artist based in Hong Kong who is a recent winner of the Hong Kong Emerging Artist award. Also in Hong Kong, travelers will get to experience the private collection of award-winning architect and artist, William Lim.

In Shanghai, the tour offers a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for guests to visit the private apartment of art dealer and collector Pearl Lam, to witness her collection. Afterwards, guests will visit the studio of abstract artist Qiu Deshu, who currently has works featured in collections across the globe. 

The excursion concludes in Tokyo, where guests will visit the acclaimed Mori Art Museum under the guided direction of the museum’s director, Fumio Nangjo, and much more.

Other highlights of the tour include exploring the private collections of Takeo Obayshi, the Faurschou collection, hiking the Jinshanling section of the Great Wall, group tai chi at Temple of Heaven, meeting artists like Zhang Dali and the family of the Guardian Auction House, Izumi Kato and a visit to Teamlab, a collaborative practice that explores the influences of technology, design and the natural world. Of course, The Peninsula Hotels have curated and displayed a variety of works from China’s top contemporary artists for guests to enjoy during their stays at the Peninsula properties on tour.
