The last stage of a major renovation of The Goring will be revealed in March 2015, just in time for the hotel’s 105th birthday celebrations. The new front hall by Russell Sage will be the final piece of an in-depth refurbishment of the popular London hotel.
Russell is not, however, the only major English designer to work on the family owned (and run) hotel. Over the past few years, Jeremy Goring has overseen the refurbishment of his family’s hotel, commissioning four top designers to update the hotel that his great-great-grandfather opened in 1910: Nina Campbell, Tim Gosling, Russell Sage and David Linley have all worked on the restaurant, the ground floor Lounge and bar and the individually designed bedrooms and suites.
The marble floor in the Front Hall will be restored; the panelling will be simplified and streamlined to create a larger, calmer space; and the plasterwork ceilings will get additional new plasterwork. In keeping with the bedrooms, the windows will be adorned with a specialist commission of Gainsborough Silk.
