Boutique Burgers
The hamburger is climbing the ranks of haute cuisine. What once started as a meal of the masses has evolved into an art of both preparation and indulgence. At least, that’s how Chef Robert Gerstenecker of Park 75 at the Four Seasons Hotel Atlanta feels. Gerstenecker has whipped up Chef G’s Burger Bar, inviting up to 16 random lunch-timers into the kitchen on Wednesdays for an exclusive burger bonanza, where diners can make their selection from the Burger Menu of the Day. The menu options will change weekly and will remain a secret until diners are seated.
Deluxe Distillery
One of Scotland’s most popular whisky (not “whiskey”—that’s Irish) distilleries has unveiled a $1.6 million makeover. The Dalmore Visitor Experience features several contemporary touches while paying homage to its 170-year history of producing award-winning single-malt whisky. Tucked away at Cromarty Firth (20 miles north of Inverness), the distillery now has LED lighting that, we hear, is designed to evoke fire and warmth, and hidden doors with a secret entrance leading to The Alchemy Room for tasting.
Haute Hosts
Las Ventanas al Paraiso, a Rosewood Resort has raised the bar on white-glove service by adding a new dimension to its Airport Hosts program. Now, the Airport Hosts have been certified by the San Jose del Cabo International Airport, allowing them to escort guests through the actual security process, and then into a new private VIP Airport Lounge. The new VIP lounge, in Terminal 1, offers plush sitting areas, Wi-Fi and unlimited light dining and beverages (yes, that includes libations for the over-21 set). A similar lounge will open in Terminal 2 in November.
