The Buzz in Paris: Shangri-La’s New Terrace Café

Shangri-La Hotel Paris

When the sun’s shining in Paris, city-dwellers flock to sidewalk cafes to soak up the rays and indulge in a favorite pastime: people-watching. To welcome the warmer weather, the city’s palace hotels spruce up their garden courtyards and unveil summery menus. New for 2014: The Shangri-La Hotel will open a brand new terrace café called La 8 Iéna, landscaped with flowers and directly accessed by the avenue d’Iéna. This is unique in Paris, as most of the hotel terraces are hidden away inside the property.

Executive Chef Philippe Labbé has conceived a special menu with light, seasonal salads (like the pink grapefruit and crab salad), plus French and Asian summer plates including the chef’s innovation: the Asian-Style Burger, which is made from Cantonese duck.

The biggest buzz is the artisanal ice cream truck that will be stationed directly on the premises. La 8 Iéna will debut on June 2, 2014. Opening hours are 12 noon to 10:30 pm. A late lunch menu will also be available between 3 and 7 pm.
