Justin Timberlake Debuts Mirimichi's Renovations and Additions
September 7, 2010 By: Melanie Gretchen
On September 7, in Millington, Tennessee, Justin Timberlake himself participated in the press conference and ribbon cutting ceremony to celebrate his golf course's re-opening. Outside of Memphis, Mirimichi debuted its 18-hole Championship Golf Course and practice facilities and the grand opening of the Mirimichi Performance & Learning Center, Little Mirimichi and the 18-hole putting course.
Championship Golf Course and Practice Facilities
With over 7,400 yards of golf, get your game on at the Championship Golf Course, which has five to eight tee boxes on every hole for different player levels. The practice facilities include the driving range, the short-game complex and the putting green to exercise your skills. Drill your ball striking and shot accuracy at any of the range's 30 stations with nine target greens. Then, check out the chipping, pitching and sand shot practice areas to practice shots 75 yards and in. The putting green's 10,000 square feet of space provide the perfect lead in to the Championship Course or Little Mirimichi.
The Mirimichi Performance and Learning Center
Besides being one of the few facilities to feature Callaway Performance Analysis System (CPAS) technology, The Mirimichi Performance and Learning Center is also the place to go for game instruction and club fitting. The center's CPAS system will capture and analyze your swing data to improve your performance, tracking your club speed, ball speed, launch angle, spin rates, attack and path angles. 3D imagery will analyze your results, diplayed on a big screen monitor using a ball flight simulator, which staff will use to analyze your swing and recommend Callaway clubs to benefit your game. Get your woods, irons and even golf balls customized in the process.
We love the building's three teaching bays including 10,200 square feet under the roof and the 920-square-foot screened patio and roll-up doors for students to hit from inside out onto the range. With the Mirimichi Cafe, you can choose from food and beverages to sit down at the Center or to take out on the green.
Little Mirimichi
For those used to being on the go, Little Mirimichi offers a shorter, faster game on its 9-hole, par 35 executive course at just over 2,500 yards long. Good to know: if you're looking towards the Championship Course, Little Mirimichi has the same grass as the Championship Course, whose roughs fairways are made up of Super Sport Bermuda and whose greens are Champion Bermuda ultra dwarf. If you're just starting out, Little Mirimichi has 4 to 5 sets of tee boxes on each hole to enjoy the course among the surrounding aquatic plants, native grass mounds and wildflower meadows.
Putting Course
Over 1.5 acres, the natural grass putting course offers a nice change of pace as well as the same grass as all of the greens at Mirimichi for all levels of players. Experience the holes, which average 25 yards, alongside the lakes with fountains and wildflower meadows. Take a break from the course at the 10,000-square foot outdoor patio and bar, where food and beverages is available for all patrons.
Insider's knowledge: Mirimichi is the first golf course in the United States to receive the Audubon Classic Sanctuary certification and the first course in the Americas and one of ten worldwide to be awarded certification from Golf Environmental Organization.
