Three New "Tee-riffic" Courses in Spain
September 27, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger
Got gusto for golf? We hear that Spain's Valencia region is set to be home to three new 18-hole golf courses by this fall: Las Colinas Golf Country Club, Font del Llop Golf Resort and La Galiana.
We also got word that Valencia will host the Castello Masters Costa Azahar, one of the tournaments on the PGA's European tour, from October 21 to 24 at the Mediterraneo Golf Club.
Now here's the skinny on what's new:
La Galiana will offer views of pine and orange groves, with over 5,000 local plant species used in the landscaping. Green touch: Water consumption will be minimized through a sophisticated rainwater collection and drainage system.
Font del Llop Golf Resort opened last May, but we think it's worth mentioning. Just minutes from Alicante, this 18-hole course has great views of the surrounding mountains. The fairways are around a small river connecting five lakes.
Las Colinas Golf & Country Club also opened this summer, in June, and is already creating buzz. The course is carved out of a gorge and offers news of the nearby coastline and a nature reserve. Water hazards and bunkering are among the key features of this course.
