AVANI to Open First Maldives Resort in 2019

AVANI Hotels & Resorts has announced the development of its first resort in the Maldives, AVANI Fares Maldives Resort. The property will be located on Fares Island in the Baa Atoll and is scheduled to open in late 2019. Designed for millennial travelers, the private 12.4-hectare island will provide a natural environment surrounded by a soft white sandy beach.

The luxury resort will house 200 guest rooms, including both standard rooms and villas. Rooms will be equipped with the latest technology including complimentary Wi-Fi, a media hub docking station, and large flat-screen TV.

Guests will have clear view of the Indian Ocean from the open plan lobby, which serves as a reception area, lounge, meeting space, all day restaurant, and The Pantry, an AVANI staple that offers comfort food and deli snacks 24/7.

The resort will also have a specialty restaurant, AVANISPA, AVANI Kids Club and a large swimming pool and pool bar. The nearby Ahivahfushi Beyru dive site offers reef diving with an abundance of sea life including Hawksbill Turtles, Reef Sharks and Manta Rays.

It will be 45 minutes by sea plane from Male and 30 minutes by speedboat from the newly opened domestic airport on Baa Atoll.

The $70 million resort is a joint venture partnership between Minor Hotels and Cyprea Group. Cyprea Group’s Sri Lanka and Maldives business portfolio includes ownership and operation of Club Med Kani Maldives Resort located in North Male’ Atoll.

AVANI Hotels & Resorts was launched in 2011 as a sister brand to Anantara Hotels, Resorts & Spas, which currently has three resorts in the Maldives, including Anantara Kihavah. The brand currently has two resorts in Sri Lanka and one in the Seychelles.
