Luxury boutique hotel Barbuda Belle has reopened for the winter season, marking the first time the property has welcomed visitors since Hurricane Irma in September 2017. In that time, the hotel rebuilt one bungalow damaged during the storm, added a completely new bungalow and introduced a new beach bar and grill.
Visitors can reach the property by taking a boat across Barbuda’s Codrington Lagoon. Barbuda Belle, made up of eight beachfront bungalows, provides visitors with a secluded stay along a pink sand beach.
Barbuda Belle’s reopening is the first of several for the island this season, with The Barbuda Ocean Club and Barbuda Cottages expected to start taking guests this December. The Hon. Mary-Clare Hurst, Antigua and Barbuda’s Minister of State in the Ministry of Tourism and Investment, stressed the importance of the hotel’s reopening for the island.
“Today marks a very important step in Barbuda’s recovery post-Hurricane Irma and a significant step in our country’s tourism,” said Hurst at the property’s November 3 reopening ceremony. “Today is our collective affirmation to our visitors far and wide that Barbuda is open for business.”
Antigua and Barbuda are located in the heart of the Caribbean in the Leeward Islands. Barbuda, the smaller of the two, is known for its 17-mile stretch of pink sand beach and its Frigate Bird Sanctuary, the largest in the Western Hemisphere.
