Kimpton Opens First European Hotel in Amsterdam

Kimpton De Witt, Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants' first European hotel, opened its doors to guests today, May 22. Located in the heart of Amsterdam, the hotel is set within three original Dutch Golden Age-era buildings in the Palace Quarter Neighborhood. Inside, there are 274 guest rooms, including 15 signature rooms and suites, a three-story suite, a flower shop, and an open-air garden.

Many of Kimpton's signature amenities will be also be available at the Kimpton De Witt, including complimentary VanMoof bikes, a hosted "Social Hour" every day starting at 5 p.m. and in-room toiletries from Amsterdam-based skin care brand Marie-Stella-Maris. According to a written release, the hotel also embraces Kimpton's "signature design with a spirited balance of wit and whimsy displayed in details as striking as the 'living wall' of florals and botanicals at the hotel entrance and as subtle as the Delft-inspired tiles paving the bathroom floors'."

Perhaps the most inventive offering at the Kimpton De Witt is the three-story 'Little House,' located within the hotel. The house was once the childhood home of Dutch playwright P.C. Hooft and dates back to the 1600's. Little House offers two king-sized rooms and a first floor living area and can be rented to guests looking for privacy and luxury. Another luxurious option for guests is Kimpton De Witt's signature suite, Penthouse De Witt. The penthouse is split over two stories with a 30-square-meter roof terrace.

Additional hotel amenities include:

  • Over 602 square meters of meeting space
  • Wyers Bar & Restaurant - American comfort food with Dutch influences, courtesy of executive chef Sam DeMarco
  • House Bar
  • Miss Louisa Coffee & Beignets - Walk-up window offering coffee, beignets, and other snacks
