New in Charleston: Hotel Bennett, Managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts

The gracious Southern city of Charleston continues to reign as a top tourist destination with a number of exciting new hotels popping up to cater to popular demand. (Read our coverage of two such properties, The Spectator and the Grand Bohemian.) The new kid on the block—recently announced—is the Hotel Bennett, which will open in autumn 2017.

Situated on King Street near historic Marion Square, the Hotel Bennett is owned by Charleston developer Michael Bennett, and will be managed by Salamander Hotels & Resorts-- the Middleburg, VA-based hospitality company founded by billionaire Sheila Johnson, a co-founder of BET.

The Hotel Bennett will have 179 guest rooms starting at $500 to $600 a night. As reported by Charleston’s newspaper The Post and Courier, “guests will experience an interesting mix of traditional, time-honored materials and the cosmopolitan look of the New South.” There will be a signature restaurant, a bar/lounge, a French patisserie, flexible event space, and—la crème de la crème- a rooftop pool with cabanas and a bar.
