Velas Resorts Debuts In-Room DIY Taco Bar

While it’s not quite a $25,000 taco, Velas Resorts will now offer a DIY taco bar in Los Cabos, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit, and Puerto Vallarta.

The taco bar is available on the 24-hour suite service menu and is included in the nightly rate.

The bar has a variety of soft flour and corn tortillas, fillings ranging from al pastor with roasted pineapple, poblano peppers with corn, and traditional Cochinita Pibil to fried Baja fish, octopus, and chorizo with potatoes. An assortment of sauces are also included, from mild to spicy as well as additional toppings like guacamole and Oaxaca cheese. For dessert, a choco vanilla taco with chocolate ice cream topped with cajeta, a Mexican caramel sauce, and cacao is on the menu at the new Grand Velas Los Cabos.  Fillings, tortillas and sauces differ based on the resort.

Grand Velas Los Cabos is no stranger to tacos on their menu. This past February, the resort debuted their $25,000 taco at their Frida restaurant. The taco consists of langoustine, Kobe beef, Almas Beluga caviar, and black truffle brie cheese. Topping it all off is a salsa made of dried Morita chili peppers, Ley.925 ultra-premium añejo tequila, and civet coffee. Holding it all together is a gold flake-infused corn tortilla.

Rates start at $161 at Velas Vallarta, $209 at Casa Velas, $319 at Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, $427 at Grand Velas Riviera Maya and $615 at Grand Velas Los Cabos. Rates include accommodations, a la carte meals, premium brand beverages, 24-hour in-suite service, fitness center, taxes, gratuity and more.
