A Makeover for The Merrion Dublin’s Penthouse

The Merrion Dublin, Penthouse

The two-bedroom Penthouse at the five-star Merrion hotel is a favorite crash pad for celebrities and dignitaries while visiting Dublin. It’s a luxurious space, encompassing 2,200 square feet and equipped with private access and a top-notch security system. Recently The Merrion has unveiled a new look for this apartment, redesigned by Irish decorator Aidan Cavey (who also designed the original Penthouse in 1997).

What’s in store? Sumptuous new fabrics and materials, including sofas upholstered in Merrington Aqua fabric and wallpaper reflecting designs by Italian artist Piero Fornasetti. Cavey wanted the Penthouse to “stay true to its Irish roots” so you’ll also find a hand-woven McMurray carpet inspired by the works of Irish artist Maine Jellett. (You can find Jellett’s work showcased in the public areas of the hotel.)

Penthouse perks include a fully-equipped kitchen, a dining room, free wifi, and a Music Room. (HotelChatter points out that “this sounds very Downton Abbey. Lord Grantham would approve.”) Did we mention the rooftop terrace with its own cedar wood hot tub?
