Design Buzz: Motif Restaurant & Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo

The Motif Restaurant & Bar at Four Seasons Hotel Tokyo at Marunouchi is set to open mid-April. Here's a look at the design, by architect André Fu, as "a social salon where people meet, converge and gather."

Located on the seventh floor of the hotel and offering 270-degree views of the Tokyo Station area, the venue will offer French cuisine created by the collaboration of head chef Hiroyuki Asano and culinary advisor chef Hiroshi Nakamichi.

Motif Restaurant & Bar will display a number of commissioned art pieces curated by Hong Kong-based art consultant Alison Pickett, including ceramics wall installation in gradating shades of mauve by Lok Ming Fung that adorns the entrance area, and a two-meter-high bronze feather sculpture by Yasemen Hussein in the signature bar area. The restaurant will also have a number of works by French artisan Hervé Van Der Straeten.

Born in Hong Kong, André Fu graduated from the University of Cambridge in 2000 and founded AFSO in the same year. In 2004, he returned to Hong Kong. Fu's approach to interior architecture combines new Asian sensitivities with clarity in space planning and attention to details of everyday life.
