Jetset Report: Speed and Comfort Enhanced at Tokyo Airports
December 9, 2009 By: Meagan Drillinger
Travel to and from Tokyo is getting faster, easier and a lot more entertaining with the addition of several airport transportation services at Tokyo's Narita and Haneda airports.
Coming in the Spring of 2010, Sky Liner, one of the airport trains, is taking up a shorter route to downtown Tokyo from Narita Airport. The whole journey to Nippori Station takes roughly 36 minutes, down from the usual 51.
Luxury clients may want to look into the new Helicopter Shuttle which travels to Narita Airport from downtown Tokyo. For $500, the service takes travelers from the rooftop of Arc Mori Building in Akasaka to the heliport in Narita. The trip ends with a limo drive right to the front of the terminal. This service is offered 22 times daily. We hear that the interior of the helicopter was designed by The French Hermes.
Time to kill at Haneda? Tokyo's Haneda Airport is opening the first airport planetarium in its new international terminal, coming October 2010. Each show is only about half an hour long so even those with less time to spare can still catch a show. Currently Haneda Airport is used mostly for domestic flights but with the expected new terminal, more international flights will be scheduled.
