Hot Hotel Bars: Kempinski Amman's Time Out Sports Bar

There’s a lot to love at the Kempinski Amman. When we stopped by before the Jordan Travel Mart 2010, we scoped out the accommodations, noting the contemporary design and abundance of windows. (The two Ambassador Suites are arguably some of the best rooms in the city, boasting an extravagant peekaboo bath, contemporary art, sweeping city views, and a security video camera to screen callers at the front door.) The facilities are head-turning, too. There’s an outdoor pool, fully-equipped gym, spa, and fine dining outlets. But what really caught our attention was the Time Out Sports Bar-- an expansive space that manages to fuse chic with a down-to-earth vibe.

Forget the rowdy, beer-soaked game-watching so common in dive sports bars around the world. Strung with flags representing major soccer teams, this bar has lounge seating with leopard print pillows. While you catch a game on one of the many flat-screen TVs, enjoy tasty food and drink selections. The bar also offers billiards and darts. Did we mention the Play Station area? Sports lovers will no doubt adore this venue, but non-sports fans will get a kick out of the ambience, too.
