Arizona Roundup

September 3, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger

Phoenix and its surrounding area is gearing up for fall. Here is a rundown of what VIP travelers need to know.

The Westin Kierland Resort & Spa has taken home the Arizona Preservation Award at the 2010 Arizona Office of Tourism's Governor's Tourism Awards. The award is presented to the individual, organization or community that has made the most significant contribution toward the preservation of some aspect of the natural, cultural or aesthetic legacy of Arizona.

The Wigwam Golf Resort and Spa should be on your radar, if it isn't already. The property has started in on a $7 million revitalization project. We hear the hotel will debut a new pool, restaurants, wedding venues and an outdoor plaza.

Are you a star-crossed lover? Four Seasons Resort Scottsdale is introducing "celestial picnics" under the stars. Guests can customize a menu tailored toward romance then return to their casita guest room for a couple's Moonlight Massage.

Outdoor enthusiast? The resort is also offering a Desert Preservation Hike, which begins at the resort and winds to Pinnacle Peak Park. There, a guide leads an interpretive hike where guests learn about the region's flora and fauna.

Foodie fodder: The third annual Arizona Restaurant Week will be held in Phoenix this month. Guests of the event are able to partake in Arizona's finest fare at a special discount price. The event encompasses over 100 restaurants (think Quiessence at The Farm at South Mountain, deseo at the Westin Kierland, Joya Terrace at InterContinental Montelucia Resort & Joya Spa, Talavera at Four Seasons Scottsdale and Latilla at The Boulders Resort and Spa).
