Carmel Valley Ranch, the 500-acre resort on California’s central coast, is adding 30 indoor-outdoor suites and studios to its mix. We hear the one-bedroom suites are at least 700 square feet with views of the valley and vineyard. Family Friendly: The suites can be configured to create two-bedroom suites with kitchens.

A new restaurant opens this summer with a flexible floor plan with two dining spaces (think, private parties) and a 1,500-square-foot terrace, which makes it all the easier to enjoy those soft California evenings, we say. Nice Touch: The terrace will sport wicker chairs and hanging lanterns.

THE RESTAURANT will have a terrace and flexible dining spaces when it opens.

Spa junkies will enjoy the new Blending Bar opening in this month, described as having a “personalized approach to modern apothecary.” Fifty scents will be available to create scrubs, lotions, body butters and bath soaks. Best part? These products can be used in the spa or bottled up for home-use. Don’t forget to add salt from the resort’s Salt House to your personalized scrubs.

A Butterfly Garden and Bird Watching Program are also in the works. The Butterfly Garden opens in summer with monarchs, painted ladies, anise swallowtails and Smith’s blues. The Bird Watching Program opens this month; be ready to go on a guided walk and (hopefully) spot California towhees, California thrashers, wrentits and more. Advisors can contact Kristina Jetton ([email protected]), general manager liaison.
