iServe: InterContinental Outfitting Concierges with iPads
April 2, 2010 By: David Eisen
Ipad meet IHG. InterContinental Hotels & Resorts is set to trial run the new Apple gadgets at four hotels. And, if all goes well, will incorporate iPads at all its global locations. Concierges will be strapped with the devices and be able to give guests high-resolution maps, close-up street views and even video clips. We hear the first hotels to receive iPads will be: the InterContinental New York Barclay, InterContinental Buckhead Atlanta, InterContinental London Park Lane and the InterContinental Hong Kong.
Why the chain likes the gizmos? It says that the iPad is ideal for common concierge tasks (think providing directions, giving restaurant advice and making reservations for guests).
Although iPads are the newest and latest tech gadgets, many hotels have turned to technology to aid in service. The Independent cites Hyatt brand Andaz, which uses handheld computers to check-in guests.
