New Appointments at FRHI

FRHI Hotels & Resorts is announcing several management-level appointments at its properties worldwide. 

Swissôtel Ankara welcomes Murat Ucan as general manager. Ucan has many years of experience within the hospitality industry, starting as part of the opening team of Swissôtel The Bosphorus in 1990. Prior to joining, Ucan was with Mövenpick Hotels & Resorts, where he was responsible for the pre-opening of the brand’s hotel in Istanbul, as well as the opening and managing of their hotel in Ankara.
 
Ugur Talayhan joins the Raffles Hainan team as general manager, responsible for the operations, performance, and strategic directions of the leading luxury hotel. Talayhan started in the hotel industry as a chef de partie at the Crowne Plaza Hotel and most recently held the position of general manager at the Westin Xi’an.
 
Fairmont Hamilton Princess appoints Allan Federer as general manager. Federer arrives with decades of experience at multiple hotel brands such as York Hannover Hotels, Carnival Hotels & Resorts and Fairmont’s very own Royal York in Toronto. Federer’s previous position was the general manager of The Ritz-Carlton in Moscow.
 
Fairmont Chengdu in China has named Philip Smith general manager. A hospitality professional of more than 30 years, Smith will be in charge of providing leadership for pre-opening activity at the hotel, which is expected to open in late 2015, as well as the ongoing operations support post opening. Smith was previously the general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake.
 
Jeff Cheng has been promoted to general manager of the Fairmont Yangcheng Lake. Cheng started his career in food and beverage, moving from chef at properties like the Ritz-Carlton and the Star City Casino Sydney to director of food & beverage with the Intercontinental Hotel Group.
 
Having more than 25 years of hospitality experience, Fairmont Nanjing welcomes Graham Hewitt as general manager. Hewitt started his career as director of finance with the Sheraton Hotel group and most recently occupying the position of general manager at the Sheraton Nanjing Hotel & Tower.
 
Swissôtel Bremen has appointed Daniela Maeckle as director of sales and marketing. Maeckle is responsible for the hotel’s overall sales strategy as well as coordinating the sales, groups and events, and revenue teams on property. Maeckle began her career in the hotel industry at Hotel Alpenrose in Zermatt, working her way up to her previous position as director of sales MICE at Hilton Spain & Portugal hotels.
 

The newest addition to the Fairmont Jakarta is Tate Husband, who takes on the role of director of sales and marketing. Husband’s role involves the conceptualization of sales and marketing strategies and their implementation for the pre-opening of this hotel, slated for 2015. Husband arrives from Swissôtel Grand Shanghai where he was director of sales and marketing.
