Chengdu, China, known for its famous panda-breeding center, is now home to an uber-posh St. Regis hotel. The St. Regis Chengdu opened near Tianfu Square and Chunxi Road.

The new property has 279 guest rooms served by the signature St. Regis butler team. The food and beverage concepts (six in total) sound particularly enticing: Yan Ting, the Chinese restaurant; Yun Fu on level 27; Decanter, the city’s only wine bar; The Drawing Room for afternoon tea; plus an outdoor sky bar and an all-day dining spot. Other facilities include the Iridium Spa, fitness center, indoor and outdoor pools and 11,840 square feet of meeting and event space.

St. Regis on the rise: 110 years ago, the very first St. Regis hotel opened in New York. There are now 33 of them globally. In fact, Starwood has prioritized expanding the brand in China, with a goal of doubling the St. Regis portfolio there within the next five years.
