The Plaza Shows Off Eloise Suite

Gather around kiddies, The Plaza has a new suite just for you. Famed designer Betsey Johnson has designed the Eloise Suite, which captures Eloise, the irreverent fictional heroine of Kay Thompson’s classic book, who—lucky!—lived in the New York hotel. 

The over-the-top suite, No. 1832, is Johnson's first-ever collaboration with The Plaza. Be prepared for pinks, and blacks and the feel of literally popping into a children's book. A signature Plaza chandelier fitted with pink bulbs casts a glow throughout. Wall panels are candy striped with pink and white and outlined with gold leaf molding
providing a nice contrast to the black and white zebra-print carpet. 

The centerpiece of the suite is the king-size bed made up with custom-designed bedding—a bedspread sprigged with scenes drawn by “Eloise” illustrator, Hilary Knight. There are also two comfy chairs upholstered in Johnson’s signature rosebud prints (we say they are perfect for storytelling). Original Hilary Knight prints hang from the walls, and the suite is equipped with a disposable Eloise camera so that guests may snap photos of their stay, then tuck them into the “memory board,” a glass-topped mirror for storing images of guests both past and present.

While Eloise may not have had all the technology back in the 50's, this suite does (think wall-mounted flat-screen TV and DVD player with Eloise DVDs). There's also a tea set and Eloise and Weenie dolls and Eloise robes and towels. It's Eloise, all the time!

Note: We say this suite is more than just for kids. Why? Well it also connects to room No. 1830, another suite which is way more grown up and sophisticated for mom and dad. The two make a perfect contrast. General Manager Shane Krige tells Luxury Travel Advisor that the Eloise suite just opened bookings today, July 29, and is already selling fast.
