Small Luxury Hotels of the World (SLH) has announced it is welcoming three new boutique hotels to its luxury collection including the new French Coco in Tartane, Martinique; The President by Akaryn in Vientiane, Laos; and Hotel Único in Madrid, Spain.

Opening in July, French Coco is a new all-suite boutique hotel and the first SLH hotel in Tartane, Martinique. Located on the north east coast of the island, the property is situated on the grounds of the Caravelle Peninsula nature reserve, a protected haven known for its tropical flora and wildlife.  French Coco will have 17 suites decorated in raw and natural materials and a soothing color palette inspired by nature.

For dining, the hotel’s restaurant will offer French-style and Caribbean-inspired cuisine made with organic, seasonal produce straight from the on-site gardens, while a dedicated concierge service will aim to make each guests stay “unique and personal.”

Tip: Guests visiting French Coco for a romantic getaway should book the Suite Creole or Suite Caraibes, both of which have a private pool and seating area for guests to relax.

Rooms rates begin at €300 per night based on double occupancy.

Also set to join SLH is The President by Akaryn, slated for an October opening in the historic city of Vientiane, Laos. Originally built as a gift to the Laotians by the Chinese government, the hotel aims to balance traditional Laotian designs with French neoclassical influences.

Situated in between the Parliament House and the Presidential palace and opposite the Chou Anouvong Park, guests can view locals practicing Tai Chi during the early morning hours. The 32 rooms and suites offer high ceilings, marble floors and large windows, many affording views of the property’s surrounding grounds and the ‘English country-house’ inspired garden maze.

For relaxation, there is the Ayurah Wellness Spa offering Linda Meredith products and therapies, which focus on combining the elements of both eastern and western treatments. Meanwhile, four separate dining spaces serve a constantly changing menu of Mediterranean, French and traditional Laos cuisine, and there is also an international buffet. Also for dining, a five-minute walk along the Mekong River will take guests to Spirit House, a bar and restaurant situated in a traditional Laos wooden house offering up cocktails and Vientiane cuisine.

Rates begin at $407 per night based on double occupancy.

Hotel Único in Madrid, Spain has also joined SLH. Located in the city’s lively Salamanca area, the hotel is housed in a converted 19th century palace, offering convenient access to nearby sightseeing areas and luxury shopping along Madrid’s Golden Mile.

The hotel has a private courtyard garden and 44 soundproofed rooms and suites. Interior décor combines marble mosaics, an ornate staircase and high ceilings and Art Deco designs aimed at creating a “quirky and contemporary atmosphere”.

The hotel also houses the two-Michelin starred restaurant, Ramón Freixa. On Sundays, guests can enjoy a brunch menu in the courtyard. Menu items include a strawberry-mint detox juice, glazed lamb shank, tuna carpaccio with wakame salad, chilled Cava and a selection of macaroons, truffles and other deserts.

Guests can relax at the hotel’s spa, which offers wellness treatments by skincare brand Natura Bissé.

Rooms begin at €267 per night based on double occupancy.
