Luxury Rail Service Across U.S.
May 19, 2010 By: Meagan Drillinger
Train travel is in and we hear that the American Railway Explorer will be launching a luxury train service highlighting much of the U.S. and several national parks.
Slated to be fully operational in summer 2011, ARE will offer guests gourmet cuisine, top-of-the-line accommodations and memorable experiences both on and off board.
The service will run four-, eight- and 11-day itineraries. The eight-day Southwest Explorer will run from Napa, CA and Santa Fe, NM. It includes guided Napa tours; Yosemite National Park; Santa Barbara; Grand Canyon National Park; Williams, AZ; Albuquerque, NM; and Santa Fe.
A Northwest Explorer will also run an eight-day itinerary between Napa and Jackson, WY.
Nice touch: The ARE purchased 1950s-era vintage railcars that are being revamped to luxury standards.
