Manhattan Pier to Welcome New Oyster Bar

We've heard restauranteur Harry Poulakakos (of Harry's Italian, Financier Patisserie and Ulysses') plans to expand his delectable empire onto Pier A in downtown Manhattan with an oyster bar, an upscale restaurant, and an event space.

The historic pier has sat in delapidation for years, but the Battery Park City Authority just voted to lease Pier A to Poulakakos who will take on the construction with real estate developer The Dermot Company and Rogers Marvel Architects.

Rumor has it the the pier could reopen as soon as the summer of 2012, just in time for guests to swill and sway riverside.

The ground floor will house an oyster bar with outdoor seating, a casual restaurant, a coffee shop and a visitor center, according to the BPCA while the second floor will feature a fine-dining restaurant and an event space, which will all occupy the third floor.
