Grand Velas Riviera Maya Offers VIPs Tips for a Baby's First Vacation

Grand Velas Riviera Maya's Jesus Duarte and Maribel Cubillas, the resort's "Baby Concierges," recently released five tips for a baby's first jet setting experience.

Luxury Travel Advisor break's down the resort's tips as well as Grand Velas Resorts' unique offerings for babies.

Introduce Him/Her to His Environment

The key is to start introducing your baby to his or her surroundings between the first and second month. During a visit to the park, for example, the baby will experience his or her environment and start to become familiar with being out and about. Start with short outings and gradually make them longer and longer. This will make traveling easier.

Choose the Perfect Destination

Look for a holiday destination with the perfect climate for your baby; don’t subject your baby to drastic changes in temperature. The Riviera Maya, for example, has an average temperature of 71-77 degrees, perfectly warm enough to enjoy the beach and the sun, without being too hot.

Make a List of Things You Need

Write down everything your baby needs for comfort, carefully considering the trip you’re about to take. Bring comfortable clothing, formula (if necessary and if it will be difficult to get it in your destination), diapers, sun block, bottles and even a blanket if necessary.

Don’t Over-Pack

Remember that you’ll have your hands full carrying your baby and the one who’ll have to carry your bags is your partner. Don’t bring unnecessary items like a stroller, baby carrier or too many clothes. There are baby-friendly all-inclusive resorts that offer items and services for your comfort. They’ll lend you everything necessary for baby and ensure your vacation won’t be affected if you forget something important at home.

Have Fun

Take lots of photos and treasure the memory of your first trip with baby. Don’t forget to enjoy some time alone for a romantic dinner; ask your concierge about babysitting services. Many hotels offer babysitting, and you won’t have to worry; babysitters must have special certification to care for babies.
