Monte-Carlo SBM Inaugurates New Luxury Shopping Pavillons

Pavillons in Monte Carlo

This month HSH Prince Albert II of Monaco cut the ribbon on the new “it” destination for luxury shoppers in Monaco. Designed as futuristic, pop-up structures, the Pavillons de Monte Carlo house the luxury boutiques that have been displaced during the Principality’s major construction projects, namely on the Avenue des Beaux-Arts, Le Sporting d’Hiver and at the Hotel de Paris.

Monte-Carlo Société des Bains de Mer (SBM) recruited architect Richard Martinet to imagine the project, an investment of 18 million euros. Martinet worked with Monegasque architect Chérif Jahlan in conceiving a space inspired by the the pebbles found on the Riviera’s beaches. Covered in off-white aluminum panels, the five pavillons will house the likes of Chopard, Lanvin, Balenciaga, Boucheron, Saint Laurent, Akris, Miu Miu, Sonia Rykiel, Alexander McQueen, and Bottega Veneta.

Located in the “Boulingrins” Gardens near the famous Place du Casino, the Pavillons will be in place until 2018, then taken down in 2019 to be recycled or sold. For more information, visit montecarlosbm.com
