Of course Nantucket hotels have long been sold out for the upcoming Labor Day weekend, but fall is also an idyllic time to unwind on the island that’s such a sought-after New England destination. In hotel news, the historic White Elephant Hotel has debuted its second loft. Located on Main Street about half a mile from the hotel, the loft occupies the second floor of a 19th century brick building.
The contemporary interiors were designed by BPC Architecture, a Nantucket firm that specializes in coastal vacation homes. There are three bedrooms and an open-plan living area and kitchen; Wallpaper magazine notes the cool design features: “wire-back stools by Harry Bertoia, leather PK22 lounge chairs by Poul Kjaerholm and decorative elephants from Charles and Ray Eames are flanked by a stained-oak feature wall on one side and a 50-foot-long window that looks out to Nantucket's busiest thoroughfare on the other.”
The advantage of booking this apartment is the hotel-style service that comes with it; all guests are privy to the White Elephant’s amenities and access to White Elephant Village. Plus loft guests get complimentary access to a BMW Sport Activity Vehicle during their stay.
