New Luxury Hotels to Open in Oman

Big news from Oman today: According to the Oman Daily Observer, The $80 million Azaiba Hotel, a five-star project near Seeb’s Airport Heights in Oman, is expected to be operational by mid-2013. The hotel will reportedly have four differently-themed restaurants and multi-level basement parking.

Upon completion, Azaiba Hotel would be one of five hotels that will open in the Sultanate in the next few years. Based on the increased tourist flow to the country and with positive projections of further improvements, high-level hotel development has picked up throughout the country.

The Observer is also reporting that the Duqm Crowne Plaza Hotel is on track and will be up and running by the fourth quarter of this year. The hotel is being developed in traditional Omani style and six family suites and a royal suite, as well as an all-day dining restaurant, seafood grill, pool and a lobby lounge.

In August 2008, Omran and the InterContinental Hotels Group signed an agreement to develop the resort. IHG said Duqm Crowne Plaza will primarily cater to business travelers.
