Last month, Dr. Michael A. Brabetz was appointed as the new medical director of Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence—the Waldhotel being one of the three hotels at Switzerland’s Bürgenstock Hotels & Resort Lake Lucerne.
Dr. Brabetz graduated from the University of Bern with a degree in human medicine in 1990. Dr. Brabetz began his medical career in 1991 as an assistant physician at the Lucerne Psychiatric Clinic, St. Urban. He earned his medical degree in human medicine in 1992, then spent another two years as an assistant physician at the Regional Hospital of Langenthal. Over the next two years Dr. Brabetz graduated from assistant to senior physician at the University Hospital of Bern.
For the past five years, Dr. Brabetz was head of internal medicine at the Clienia Littenheid Psychiatric and Psychotherapeutic Clinic. Prior to that, he practiced medicine for twelve years in the Canton of St. Gallen. Dr. Brabetz also has certificates in internal medicine, psychosomatic and psychosocial medicine, echocardiography and phytotherapy. In addition, he is a member of a number of Swiss medical organizations including the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Society of Cardiology.
With his medical experience, Dr. Brabetz will preside over the hotel’s team of multi-disciplinary doctors as they aim to fulfill the resort’s dedication to holistic and healthy living. The Waldhotel Health & Medical Excellence is part of the greater luxury resort that encompasses 383 rooms in two 5-star hotels, one four-star hotel and a three-star inn, plus 67 residences, 12 restaurants, lounges and bars, a 107,000-square-foot spa, an 800-person meeting place, several museums, a nine-hole golf course and three tennis courts.
Dr. Brabetz will also be involved with the resort's expansive wellness center, which provides facilities for medical check-ups, physical therapy, weight management, post-operative convalescence and wellness programs.
