Rooftop Bar Buzz: The Haven Rooftop's Moroccan Transformation

The weather may be cooling off, but at least fall brings the opportunity to roll out a new wardrobe. In that spirit, The Haven Rooftop at The Sanctuary Hotel in New York will debut a brand-new, Moroccan-inspired look this fall and winter.

Owners Brandon Freid and Hank Freid will unveil the new look (plus new menu additions) Thursday, October 23.

The new Haven will have palm trees in every corner, Moroccan carpets laid throughout, plush cushioned banquettes, lanterns and brightly lit stars hanging from the transparent tent above. Weekly entertainment will include belly dancers, electric violinists and other live acts.

The rooftop's seasonal menu will offer flavors to match the surroundings, with new signature dishes including Seared Lamb Chops with tomato, parsley and fine herbs, Shrimp Curry over rice, Tilapia and Couscous with cucumber, diced onions and tomatoes and Hummus Pizza with parmesan, shredded mozzarella, goat cheese, chives and white truffle oil. Mixologist Isaac Grillo pairs these dishes with cocktails like the Moroccan Old Fashioned (Woodford Reserve Bourbon, Green Tea and Mint), Sahara Kingdom (Jameson Black Barrel, Fig and Cassia) and Desert Rose (Absolut Vanilla, Prosecco, Lime and Rose Nectar).
