Top Five New York City Restaurants to Celebrate Mardi Gras

Mardi Gras is this coming Tuesday, and bars and restaurants all over the country will be celebrating New Orleans flair! Visitors in New York City will have no shortage of options for a proper (or improper) Mardi Gras fete, but CBS has five picks for the top establishments for laissez-ing les bons temps rouler.

Southern Hospitality

Musician and actor Justin Timberlake is part owner of Southern Hospitality, a restaurant with two locations in New York City. This restaurant and bar not only has great food, but also plays host to a big Mardi Gras party each year. Come dressed wearing beads, feathers and masks and get ready dance the night away with true Southern rock.

The Ninth Ward is a hip bar and restaurant in the Lower East Side that is heavily influenced by Louisiana. There’s Abita, a New Orleans beer, on tap and po’boys on the menu. Be sure to show up early on Mardi Gras to get a seat at the bar, and then get ready to do some Fat Tuesday celebrating.

This Union Square bar has plenty of New Orleans classics, including an assortment of Hurricanes. Bonus: Tuesday nights feature $3 shots of Southern Comfort (you should probably call it SoCo) and Kamikaze shots.

Bourbon Street Bar and Grill is located in a converted townhouse on West 46th Street, and the upper balcony is the perfect perch for bead throwing. This Mardi Gras, the bar will be packed and the Creole cuisine will be flowing. Tip: Order the white chocolate beignets(french donuts) with spiced honey dipping sauce.
