Canadian singer and broadcaster Jann Arden christened the tenth Suite Ship from Avalon Waterways, the Avalon Tranquility II, in a ceremony in Strasbourg, France, on April 2.

Arden was joined by senior Avalon Waterways personnel, executives from the Canadian travel industry and members of the media.

After giving her blessing, Arden cut the rope tethered to a bottle of Moët & Chandon champagne, releasing it against the new ship’s bow with a smash. Onlookers included Avalon Waterways Managing Director Patrick Clark and managing director for Canada, Stéphanie Bishop.

Alberta-born Arden has released 12 albums with 19 top ten singles, is an eight-time Juno award winner and a proud recipient of a star on Canada’s Walk of Fame. She is also an author and broadcaster of note.

Now that she has been officially christened, the 110-meter, 128-passenger Tranquility II will commence sailing itineraries through Holland, France, Germany and Switzerland.
