Cox & Kings Launches New Zimbabwe Safari Itineraries
July 22, 2010 By: David Eisen
Cox & Kings, as a result of a now politically and economically stronger Zimbabwe, has launched new safari itineraries featuring prime wildlife viewing and top accommodations in the area’s wildlife reserves. Cox & Kings figured the time was right after the country stabilized its power sharing arrangement and experienced a positive currency change by instituting the South African Rand and U.S. Dollar as the standard currencies of exchange.
Thomas Stanley, centre head and COO of Cox & Kings USA, who just assumed the position on July 1, said that Zimbabwe has long implemented several of Africa’s most effective conservation efforts and welcomes sophisticated safari-goers.
All Zimbabwe itineraries by Cox & Kings are customizable and offer travelers the opportunity to experience this African eco-system through hosted game drives and wildlife walks. Each of the special Zimbabwe itineraries is currently available to book and include the following:
Classic Zimbabwe Safari (nine days) – Features Victoria Falls, Hwange and Mana Pools National Parks. Notable as the home to the only elephants known to stand on their hind legs to feed during the winter months. The itinerary offers close-up safari experiences in 4x4 vehicles, on motorized boats, on foot, in game hides and in canoes. Guests enjoy two- to three-night accommodations in such safari camps as Ruckomechi Camp.
Botswana & Zimbabwe Safari (12 days) – Itinerary goes through the Okavango Delta of northern Botswana to Zimbabwe’s Hwange National Park. Guests will stay in such camps as Little Makalolo Camp.
Singita Southern Africa Safari (nine days) – A diverse journey through Southern Africa, from Kruger National Park to Zimbabwe’s Malilangwe Wildlife Reserve. Guests can choose between Singita Lebombo or Sweni Lodges in Kruger National Park and Singita Boulders or Ebony in Singita Sabi Sand Game Reserve in South Africa.
For guests seeking to extend their travels in Zimbabwe or within sub-Saharan or North Africa, Cox & Kings is able to arrange customized extensions, including additional excursions such as gorilla tracking in Parc National des Volcans in Rwanda or diving in Lake Malawi.
