We’ve been anticipating this luxury hotel since last January, when we reported that designer superstar Karl Lagerfeld had been commissioned to design the hotel’s emblem (“The Lion’s Seal”). The Sofitel So Singapore- the third hotel in the brand’s “So” portfolio”—will officially open in May 2014. (HotelChatter notes that it’s a soft opening.)
Housed in a heritage building near Raffles Place in the heart of the city’s Central Business District, the Sofitel So Singapore will have 134 rooms (including nine suites) with sophisticated touches by designer Isabelle Miaja (like wall paneling, skylights, and a princess canopy above the signature Sofitel MyBed). Amenities are generous, including free WiFi, free minibars, an Apple Mac mini, an iPad mini, and iPhone 5 for use during your stay.
Other enticements include a gastronomic restaurant, plus a rooftop lounge and pool. The official website makes much ado about the concierge staff, noting that they can “find the seats for a concert that has been sold out for weeks, the table in the restaurant that everybody covets or a magnifique gift to celebrate a special occasion.”
