FIFA fans traveling to South Africa this summer for the 2010 World Cup probably already have their banners drawn and faces painted. But what will they do during down time?
The Westcliff in Johannesburg and Mount Nelson Hotel in Cape Town have put together a list of some must-do's when teams aren't battling it out on the field.
La Belle Terrasse, the Westcliff's signature restaurant, is a great spot to get some eats. It features an international menu and an extensive wine list, which is paired with unmatched views of the city.
For traditional South African grub, check out Gramadoelas Restaurant, which serves local specialties like bobotie, crocodile, mopani worms, ostrich and umngqushu (braised beef shit, beens and maize).
For some quiet sightseeing, the Cityseeing Cape Town hop-on, hop-off bus travels two scenery-packed routes. The red route hugs the Atlantic Seaboard while the
blue route visits Kristenbosch Botanical Gardens and Hout Bay.
Shoppers should head to 44 Stanley in Johannesburg, which has 25 specialty boutiques, restaurants and design studios.
Cape Town is also a great city for retail therapy. Hit up The Cape Quarter in the De Waterkant district for all things art, design, fashion, books, house wares and furniture.
It's bottoms up at Polo Bar at The Westcliff, which features a selection of cocktails, tapas and champagne.
Or try Long Street in Cape Town, a strip of nightlife where you can throw back your favorite brew while listening to afro-chic, grunge, funk and electro music.
