South African Tourism is lacing up for the 2010 FIFA World Cup by partnering with Warner Brothers Pictures to promote the new movie, Invictus, which was released December 11.
Invictus, directed by Clint Eastwood, tells the story of how then-South African President Nelson Mandela, played by Morgan Freeman, teamed up with the captain of South Africa's rugby team (a beefed-up Matt Damon) which went on to win the 1995 World Cup Championship and helped unite the country.
Along with Warner Brothers, the partnership also includes tour operators such as Destination Southern Africa, South African Airways Vacations, Meticulous Tours, Safariline, Palace Travel and Immersion Journeys. These operators have all created South African experiences. Destination Southern Africa has taken a further step to create travel experiences that relate to the movie.
