Le Méridien Barcelona

Le Méridien Barcelona, tucked into the busy La Rambla, has opened 19 new suites and an indoor/outdoor spa.

The new Mediterranean Suites have large bedrooms and terraces, each approximately 500 square feet, offering plenty of outdoor and indoor space. In fact, we say it’s like having a fabulous apartment in the heart of one of your favorite cities. Nice Touch: The terraces have collections of natural stones that collect rainwater and attract birds—fun for when you’re catching some sun or watching from the comfort of your indoor living area.

The Prestige Suites on the sixth and seventh floors are a good pick for top views over La Rambla, and who doesn’t want to watch the steady stream of passersby checking out the avenue known for its dappled sunlight, shops and cafés, and true Catalonian vibe. Prestige Suites have large bedrooms and separate living rooms with tables for in-room dining. (Note: None of the rooms have kitchens, so food will have to be brought in.) Tip: Be sure to request a room with a verandah or a Jacuzzi for ultimate relaxing.

Bonus: Some Prestige and Mediterranean Suites can interconnect for families or groups with different tastes.

Verandahs
Verandahs attached to suites have comfy furniture and plenty of space for relaxing.

Also on the sixth floor is the new, intimate, two-room Explore Spa Studio. That sounds tiny, but we say the spa makes good use of its space both indoors and outdoors, where there’s a refreshing vitality pool and a lounging area, which might just be ideal for a private party of some sort. Overall the spa, which uses Cinq Mondes products, has two treatment rooms, the pool and a sun deck. And keep in mind for honeymooners and couples: Those two treatment rooms can be converted into a private couples’ suite upon request. While the Discovery Massage is the most popular treatment, we hear the Explore treatment (which involves a scrub, mask and massage) is also sought after. Reach out to Spa Director Walter Rijkers ([email protected]) with any questions, and ask for therapist Aga Tieluszecka when booking.

Consider this bustling hotel for pre- and post-cruises, particularly for those who don’t have a lot of time and want to enjoy the city just outside their door.

Luxury travel advisors should contact Sales Director Helena Membrillera ([email protected]) with any questions.
