Spa-ing at Sonoma's Farmhouse Inn
April 8, 2010 By: Lindsay Lambert Luxury Travel Advisor
If your clients are true gourmands, or simply appreciate the benefits of fresh ingredients, they’re likely familiar with the concept of farm-to-table cuisine. Now, with the debut of its new spa, the Farmhouse Inn, Restaurant and Spa, in Northern California’s Russian River Valley (that’s Sonoma Wine Country), is introducing a twist to the concept by bringing farm-fresh ingredients to the treatment room.
For guests, this means natural, sustainable, farm-inspired treatments using home-grown ingredients like carrots (which are used in one of the four-room spa’s more indulgent services, a three-hour treatment called Carrot, Carrot, Carrot), grapes and apples, and even honey that’s made in the inn’s hives. Ingredients are also delivered to the spa’s kitchen, where they’re prepared into a number of healthful offerings that nourish from the inside, as well.
Many specialized treatments are administered in the inn’s Barn Suites, each of which includes a steam shower and spacious balcony that accommodates twin treatment tables, all surrounded and shaded by large, looming trees. Suggest the Barn Suite Decadence treatment for your favorite couple clients; its finale includes a bubble bath for two, accompanied by a dessert created by Farmhouse’s pastry chef. Luxury travel advisors can contact Anna McPeck (anna@farmhouseinn.com; 800-464-6642) for booking inquiries and for treatments, which are exclusive to Farmhouse guests.
Luxury Touch: Six concierges oversee guests in a mere 18 rooms. They can direct guests to the 75 wineries within 10 miles. And, since the inn is owned by siblings Catherine and Joe Bartolomei, who are fifth-generation Sonoma County grape growers, they’ve got all the insider secrets. Other fun options include hot-air balloon rides, bike rentals, beach walks and redwood forest hikes.
