Keith Prowse Returns, in Different FormJune 21, 2012 By: Jena Tesse Fox
There’s been some buzz in the industry that Keith Prowse, the erstwhile ticketing powerhouse, is returning through Ingresso, a ticketing technology company. We reached out to Robin Allen, head of travel and attractions at Ingresso Group Limited, and learned that yes, the brand name of Keith Prowse is back, but that this new company will be a different business.
Most importantly, Allen stressed that the new Keith Prowse Tickets will not simply be a ticket agency brand the way it was in the past under previous ownership. “Ingresso, which bought the brand rights to Keith Prowse Tickets, is first and foremost a technology company utilizing our TicketSwitch software to connect live ticketing systems to a network of affiliate and partner distribution platforms,” he explained.
The difference, he continued, is that while ticket agents approach suppliers for ticket allocations and credit facilities, Ingresso requests an API connection for TicketSwitch to connect directly in to live inventory (no allocation required). The transaction is made by the supplier (no credit required) who also fulfils the ticket and customer service. Ingresso shares its commissions with the distributor.
The decision to buy the name was based on customer awareness in the ticketing industry. In addition, the brand name provides a platform for Ingresso to display their inventory and demonstrate their technology. Current connections include London theatre, Golden Tours, Gray Line Worldwide, and Allen says that supply and distribution businesses around the world are in negotiations to partner with the revived company.
